3 Ways To Update Your Wardrobe Without Buying a Thing
So you are once again standing in front of your closet not knowing what to wear although it’s packed with stuff and you feel like crying? Happens to the best of us. Here are 3 new, cool looks you can easily master with what you already own in case shopping is out of question.
1 Put a top under your dress
So you have got a cute strapless number that you barely get to wear as it is not really daytime or weather appropriate? Why not layer something underneath it? You can go chic and monochrome, or pick a complementing colour, either way your outfit just got much more interesting. There are plenty of options what to layer as well. If it is chilly outside try a turtleneck or a whisper-thin cashmere sweater, in the summer your favourite t shirt will do just fine and you can’t go wrong with a classic button down shirt any time of the year.
2 Tie a scarf
You must have at least one silk scarf somewhere in the back of your closet, otherwise just ask your mom next time you visit. It’s an accessory that has been unrightfully forgotten in recent year but it is making a big comeback in 2015. We are happy about that as it can jazz up any old, boring outfit. Add a pop of colour by artfully wrapping the entire scarf around your neck and tucking away the ends or take note from the Pre-fall shows and wear it like a bandana: fold on the diagonal and put it on with the triangular part facing forward. If you are into the 70’s trend, take a note from the Gucci runway show. Tie a skinny or folded scarf and either let the ends playfully hang off your shoulders or twist them into a playful knot. Voila!
3. Wear everything with ….. sneakers
Sneakers as a fashion item are nothing new. In fact they have been quite ubiquitous for a few seasons now. However nothing updates a “serious” dress quite like a pair of Nike’s. What might look dated with pumps or flags gets some instant street crd when paired with sneakers. Plain white ones are foolproof, but look into some funky options as well, studded or metallic are just two good examples.
